Mug, or ale pot of grey stoneware, standing on a restored pie-crust moulde foot; squat, globular body waisted at shoulder, rising to cylindrical neck; simple strap handle; the body and neck incised with lines of varying thickness, the neck, being more closely lined having a ribbed appearance; the exterior covered with an iron-brown wash or slip, covered with a very light clear salt-glaze, the grey stoneware body showing through in places; the plaster restoration overpainted in brown.
