Figure group of Samson and the Lion, white earthenware with a strongly tinted blue crackle glaze, both standing on an elongated oval base with a gilt line round. Samson bare legged with black shoes laced up to knee, pink tunic decorated with sprigs of purple flowers and green foliage, green girdle, green necklace around neck, orange cloak with a green fringe, black beard and curly hair. Lion grey coloured with black nails, a black speckled back, black and red mane, red mouth and white teeth. Samson and lion in active combat; Samson forcing open the lion's mouth with both hands and with his orange cloak (broken) flying out to left; lion standing on hind legs with front paws gripping Samson's bent left leg.
