Roman stone quern
Complete upper stone. There is a rynd chase, but no clearly defined pivot hole. Vertical well dressed, edge with socket for handle. There are roughly shaped openings either side of the pivot position. A raised lip, slightly oval, surrounds the central opening, c.160mm by 140mm, by 10mm high. The grinding surface is constant and only slightly worn.
