Cup, coffee and saucer
Pardoe, Thomas (1770-1823)
Coffee cup and saucer, greyish blue hard-paste porcelain, with a slight brown translucency, thickly potted; cylindrical can-shaped coffee cup standing on a shallow foot rim, ear-shaped handle; conventional dish-shaped saucer, on shallow foot rim; both decorated with an underglaze blue ground reserved with red and yellow peonies amid realistically painted foliage edged with gilding, and with gilt sprays; narrow gilt band at the base and lip of the cup and round the rim of the saucer; interior of cup plain except for gilt line at lip.
