Vase, with cover
Vase, hard-paste porcelain, standing on a high spreading foot, ovoid body, short cylindrical neck, to the front and rear of the exterior body at the shoulder are large modelled groups of naturalistic flowers trailing garlands of modelled flowers down the sides of the body, to either side of the exterior body are twin twisted loop handles modelled to resemble twigs with moulded acorns at the terminals, high domed cover with to the top a modelled figure of a crouching semi-naked young boy holding an oval shield, around the foot-rim of the vase and the rim of the cover are borders of moulded laurel leaves; finely painted in polychrome enamels with around the foot and exterior body of the vase and the sides of the cover sprays of naturalistic roses, the moulded laurel leaf borders picked out in gilt, a gilt band around the lower body of the vase, a border of gilt foliate motifs around the shoulder of the vase, a heavy gilt band around the exterior neck of the vase, the modelled flowers painted in naturalistic enamels, one of the handles painted a greeny-brown, the other painted brown, the modelled figure to the cover painted in naturalistic enamels with a greenish drape, the shield edged in gilt.
