Lead ingot
Lead ingot recovered from the sea off North Wales. One of 50 pigs recovered from wreck of sloop LOVELY, wrecked in 1808 at Maen Mellt, 8 miles north east of Bardsey Island, enroute from the Holywell area or Deeside. The inscription 'E' may refer to Adam Eyrton of Holywell, a smelteand refiner of lead. The lead has a silver content of 0.04% equivalent to 14 tray ozs per ton which is normal for Flintshire lead ore (see Maritime Wales No 1 1976 pp 51-62).
