Same cord is wound round edge of button and at the end is a tassel of white metal purl. Centre front has appliqueéd embroidered badge of Welsh lion stitched in red, black and blue on white ground, surrounded by green border with [Prince of Wales' plumes?] embroidered with metal coils. Below: scroll with inscription imbroidered in white. Borders of design delineated by couched twisted wire. Peak embroidered with metal coils: '1970-71 Ic.Ic.S.S.Be'. Printed template visible underneath embroidery. Peak stiffened (card?) and edges trimmed with 2 white metal braids. Cap is lined with black cotton sateen. Towards centre of crown, the lining is pleated to accommodate narrowing shape.
