Late Mesolithic wooden post
A decorated oak post carved with a design of waves and an 'eye'.
Carved oak post, 4250 BCE. It may be one of the oldest pieces of wood-carved art found in Europe. It may have served as a marker post of some kind, possibly marking a tribal boundary, a hunting ground or perhaps a sacred site.
