Roman copper alloy Trumpet brooch
The pin is sprung. A large lug projects at the rear to support the spring, but there is no means of securing the internal chord. A circular disc, cast solid with the trumpet head, projects from the top centre of the head. The bow is plain, the upper part terminates in a moulding comprising two simple lobes; below this is a wide shallow groove which separates the moulding from the waist knob, which is itself flanked by two thin transverse ridges. Below the waist knob is another shallow groove and a further ill-defined moulding separating the waist knob from the lower part of the bow, which tapers sharply. The foot consists of two slightly flared bands.
Remains of the pin and spring are separate.
