Fan
Painted wooden fan; held together by white tabby-woven ribbon (silk or synthetic?) (with satin selvages) which is threaded through slits (3 in each stick). Ends of ribbon are stuffed into a groove made in the guards and adhered in place. Stamped-out floral trellis design in upper section of sticks. Upper edge of sticks and guards is rounded. Guards are slightly thicker than sticks and their outer surface is polished and has a slightly more yellow appearance than unpolished wood on inside and sticks. Fan held together at bottom end with iron pin and domed brass washer. Hand decorated: painted with wild roses and berries.
17 sticks and 2 guards Spanish manufactured (according to accession card)
