Robe
Gown (with matching petticoat). The silk is dated to about 1739-42, but the dress is of a later date. Worn by Catherine Powell who married Hugh Clough of Plas Clough.
Heavy brocaded silk open fronted gown with matching petticoat. Off white cannelle ground, brocaded in silver gilt thread and coloured silks with a heavy non-naturalistic floral pattern. Gown formerly altered for fancy dress and re-made to approximate original shape by V&A. Main seams now all machine stitched. With some extra off-cuts of matching fabric.
