Old Delabole Slate Quarries, Cornwall, price list
Full title - Old Delabole Slate Quarries.
Prices and particulars of slates of the Old Delabole Slate Quarries, Delabole, Cornwall, dated 1928. The prices given are for ‘grey’ and ‘greens’ slates in various sizes (ranging from 30’’ x 15’’ to 12’’ x 6’’), and of various quality ( ‘mediums’ and ‘seconds’). Prices are also given for ‘randoms’; ‘peggies’; ‘grey slate slabs’; ‘flooring hearths, head, a tombstones’; ‘window sills, steps etc’; ‘grey scantle’; ‘rags’; ‘ridge roll and wings’; ‘crazy paving’; and ‘building stone’. The price list is printed on grey card and cream paper, and is folded down the centre. The donor’s family were timber merchants in Taunton, Somerset. They supplied timber and slate to local builders and merchants, and as a result acquired a collection of slate price lists. The majority of the price lists (acquired over a number of years) are from Welsh slate quarries; therefore this price list is an interesting comparison as it is from a slate quarry in England.
