Salamander
Round plate with long handle and a terminal loop for suspension.
Named after the mythical lizard which could live in intense heat, the salamander was heated in the fire and then held over items such as pastries and meringues to brown the top of the food. They were used in the kitchens of larger houses, and this example was used in the kitchen of St Fagans Castle.
