Roman copper alloy Light Polden brooch
The narrow tapering bow of square section, has a slight ovoid curve. It is ornamented with two grooves which converge about half-way down; between the grooves is a slight ridge, the grooves are ornamented with incised hatching. The catchplate has a triangular piercing, its reverse is decorated by incised herringbone decoration close to the outer edge and by incised hatching along the line of the bow. Only fragmentary traces of side-wings remain, there is no indication how the spring and chord were secured.
