Apron

Bright blue, red, white and yellow printed apron with a patch pocket on the front depicting various scenes of London during the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Printed images include Big Ben, St Paul's Cathedral and soldiers. Along the bottom is the royal coach procession.

Made from tabby woven cotton fabric. Edges are bound with red bias tape. Lower edges are rounded and top edge has four inward facing pleats on each side which are gathered into a waistband which is wider at the centre: 5cm at either end compared to 10cm at the widest point. 55cm long ties are stitched on separately. The ends are folded under and the raw edge is secured in the edge turn-back seam. Seams all machine stitched using red thread. Fabric label attached to inner waist reading 'Nutility REG'D TRADE MARK' Below are the letters 'SO'.
