Medieval pottery jug
Applied band of thumbed decoration around rim; horizontal bands of two incised lines on body; applied discs with stamped raspberry pattern linked by horizontal and vertical applied ridges, overlying the bands of incised decoration; strap handle with thumbed cenral groove bearing a single vertical row of incised notches and horizontal row of five incised notches at top of handle. Bottom half of body missing but presumed base is saggy bottomed with horizontal row of thumbed decoration around edge. External surface of base unglazed. Small burnt clay and white gritty inclusions in fabric. Handbuilt. (Base of handle has seven deeply incised notches in horizontal row)
