Bridle
Part of a set of late 16th century horse trappings from Dudley Castle. According to family history, they were made for the use of Queen Elizabeth I when she visited the Castle. The set consists of: housing in pale blue silk velvet, covered with bands of gold and silver lace, and fringed with gold, silver and blue silk; pair of stirrups with the leathers covered in blue velvet, and gold and silver braid; bridle with the headstall and reins covered in blue velvet, gold and silver braid and tassels; breast strap covered with blue velvet, gold and silver braid and tassels.
