Late Neolithic flint oblique arrowhead

The artefact is a fine example of an oblique arrowhead with an elongated barb made on black chalk flint. It is complete, although it has a clean break at the top of the barb - damage undoubtedly caused recently by quarry vehicles. The arrowhead is made on a flake, the original edge of which extends down into a single long barb. It is unpatinated. The primary flake edge has been retouched with some pressure flaking.

Flint oblique arrowhead, 3000-2500 BCE, from Lithalun Quarry, Bridgend. Pieces of bone or antler were used to press thin flakes from the edge of a piece of flint.
