Jug, eathenware, standing on a rounded slightly spreading foot-rim, globular body, cylindrical neck, plain beak spout, plain loop handle; transfer-printed in black with to the front of the body the inscription "Sacred to / the Memory of / LORD NELSON" enclosed within a cartouche of ribbon-tied foliage, to one side of the body a head and shoulders portrait of Nelson wearing dress uniform and with the inscription "England expects every Man to do his duty. / ADMIRAL LORD NELSON. / Born Septr 29 1758_ Died Octr 21 1805 Aged 47" printed around it in a curve, to the other side of the body a small scene showing a ship in sail upon the sea with the inscription "VICTORY" printed below, a black band around the exterior lip-rim and spout, black markings to the handle. The foot-rim, spout and lip-rim chipped. A narrow crack to one side of the spout.
