Tray
Oval, with straight sides rising from flat base. A hand hole at each end. Decorated to centre with oval panel with a tavern scene painted in colours, within a ochre border and surrounded by a continuous band of intertwining scroll work and foliate ornament. The interior of the sides with alternating bands in black and gold, the outer bands with the stormont pattern in gold, the central band with circles and scrollwork in black, red and gold. Varnished and crazed. Black japan to underside of base and exterior of sides. The painting is based on an engraving reproduced after David Teniers The Elder (Crawford Coll.)
