Tureen, cream, cover and stand

Coalport

Cream tureen, soft-paste porcelain, bulbous body with slightly flaring foot, to either side of the body twin horizontal handles with leaf and shell moulding, domed cover with a shaped edge to the rim, a notch to one side of the rim, and a rose finial, around the upper body of the tureen and the sides of the cover a blind-moulded low relief pattern of double-barred scrolls and festoons; the upper body of the tureen and the sides of the cover covered with a wide band of a pale powder blue ground against which the moulded relief decoration is revealed in white, the lower sides of the tureen and the top of the cover painted with groups of garden flowers in polychrome enamels, gilt lines around the foot, centre and upper rim of the tureen and around the rim and top of the cover, the handles and finial picked out in gilt. Stand, soft-paste porcelain, short foot-rim and curving sides with a shaped edge to the rim and a raised central plateau on which the tureen rests, the sides of the stand blind-moulded with a low relief pattern of double-barred scrolls and festoons; around the sides of the stand a wide band of a pale powder blue ground against which the moulded relief decoration is revealed in white and heightened with gilt, a further border of gilt scrolls around the edge of the central plateau, a gilt line around the edge of the rim.
