Medieval bone comb
Fragment from a medieval bone comb. This is made from a single piece, as opposed to three piece constructed combs attached by pegs. The comb is two sided with thick coarse teeth on one side and finer narrow teeth on the other. The surviving fine teeth are lentoid in section. The body of the comb is flat and decorated simply with four straight horizontal lines.
The fragment is from the middle of the comb. No coarse teeth remain, five of the fine teeth remain complete.
The object was found in Phase 4, which represents a medieval context.
