Lobster pot
Willow pot for catching lobsters and crabs. Made by Evan and Eddie Williams of Aberdaron, Llŷn Peninsula, 1965.
Sherical, with single entrance, split willow (greens) ribs, bound with twisted willow fitching.
Lobster pots used in Wales varied in shape and design from one part of the country to the other. Fishermen from the Llŷn Peninsula used single entrance ink-well pots weighted down with stones. They made them during the winter from materials found in the local area. Every fisherman created pots that suited his own needs.
