Pot-lid
Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and convex top, the flange partially obscured by the frame; the upperside of the lid decorated with what appears to be an underglaze transfer-print in black and poink which has had further colours added by hand, of 'Swiss Riverside Scene' (although this title is not recorded on the lid), showing a town with medieval buildings by the side of a river with figures with baskets in the foreground and towers on a hilltop in the background, the scene enclosed by a circular gilt band. The glaze crazed, a crack to the underside of the lid. The pot-lid mounted for display in a close-fitting circular wooden frame painted black.
