Roman copper alloy Polden Hill brooch
The head of the bow is recessed to either side of the chord loop to accommodate the wire of the chord. There are vertical mouldings at the ends of the side-wings and the bow is decorated with the skeuomorph of the old forward chord hook which now links, as a prominent rib, with the rearward loop. The catchplate has fretted openwork ornament.
