Medieval silver seal matrix

The seal matrix is complete but worn and eroded. The seal die is circular (with a diameter of 20.7mm) and the matrix has a hexagonally faceted handle, terminating in a loop (with a height of 24.4mm and an internal diameter of 2.8mm). A worn moulding separates the loop from the faceted handle. The seal die has a central device depicting the Agnes Dei or Lamb of God. The lamb is carrying a cross which continues into the encircling inscription and the cross is appears to have been used to begin the legend. The legend is now worn and difficult to determine, the interpretation is speculative but appears to read:

+F (or P) R (or A) D I . E I S
