Cup and saucer

Sèvres

Cup, hard-paste porcelain, inset base, cylindrical sides, plain loop handle; the exterior sides covered with a salmon-coloured ground, this then decorated in dark brown enamel with around the lower body a border of arching lines and around the upper body a border of repeated anthemions, gilt bands around the foot-rim and lip-rim, the handle painted in gilt Saucer, hard-paste porcelain, inset base and flaring sides; the upperside of the saucer covered with a salmon-coloured ground against which is reserved to the centre of the well a round panel left white and painted in the centre with a gilt star, the panel enclosed by a gilt band, the sides of the well decorated in dark brown enamel with around the bottom a border of arching lines and around the top a border of repeated anthemions, a gilt band around the edge of the rim.
