Early Medieval whetstone
Shaped slipstone or whetstone, sub-rectangular in plan with slight tapering at one end. Rectangular in cross-section. One edge and the upper face have been utilsed for sharpening and are smooth. There is a single linear channel running along the middle of the upper surface, just off-centre. The bottom face is unworked. There is purple and black staining along part of the upper surface and at the ends of the whetstone.
