oak high-back armchair with back and seat upholstered in tan leather and finished with black vinyl piping; the leather on the back of the chair has been embossed and coloured with a red dragon; the back frame, arms and legs are all of oak; the arm supports have a carved fish within; below the arm supports and seat is following inscription '19 EISTEDDFOD GENEDLAETHOL CYMRU…RHYL 53'.

The 1953 Rhyl Eisteddfod chair followed the original design by Ellis Berwyn Evans (first seen in Colwyn Bay 1947). It has carved arm supports and is upholstered in leather with a red dragon embossed on the back of the chair. The chair was donated by P T Trehearn of Rhyl and made from oak given by J R Gordon & Co, Chester. The chair was awarded to Ernest Llwyd Williams.
