Cover, hard-paste porcelain, round high-domed helmet-shaped form, to the top a modelled figure of a crouching semi-naked young boy holding an oval shield; finely painted in polychrome enamels with around the sides of the cover regularly spaced sprays of roses, the figure painted in naturalistic enamels with a drape with a red floral pattern and green lining, the shield edged in gilt, around the lower sides of the cover a border of regular foliate festoons in gilt, a heavy gilt band around the rim of the cover. The rim of the cover chipped.
