Late Bronze Age bronze socketed axe
Blade end fragment of socketed axe. Sides of axe diverge modestly with concave curve to form cutting edge. Axe break has removed all upper and middle axe faces, therefore undiagnostic. Base of socket evenly shaped. Prominence of join down sides of axe betray an assymetry in mould matching. Blunted casting flashes. Cutting surface largely preserved, however two modern nicks and slight damage to one side of blade. Blade edge has deep crescentic curve, with recurving of blade sides. No evidence of working marks or impact during breakage visible. Green patina.
