White cotton apron; upper section to cover chest with appliqued red cross; wo cloth covered metal buttons as fastening on waist; upper section would have been held up either by pinning (evidence of pin holes on upper corners) or by fastening the tape loops which are applied to back of upper corners onto corresponding buttons (or similar) on dress (no evidence that tape loops have been in use, i.e. no creasing); apron appears to be starched.
