Pot-lid
Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and slightly rounded top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'Bear Hunting' (although this title is not recorded on the lid), showing a wilderness landscape with a crouching figure pointing a gun across a ravine at a family of bears, arounf the outside of the scene is printed the inscription "ROSS & SONS' GENUINE BEAR GREASE PERFUMED / 120 BISHOPSGATE STREET, LONDON", a gilt band around the rim. The glaze crazed with hairline cracks.
