Roman pottery bowl
the lower part of a lead glazed hemispherical bowl (cf Arthur 1978 type 14) and Caerleon Fortress Baths (Greep 1986) fig 38 no 1,7. The fabric is orange with a grey core and the vessel is coated with a cream slip, over which is the remains of a clear glaze which gives the vessel a yellowish appearance. The patchy survival of the glaze may hint that other vessels from Bear Field in 'Caerleon' type wares may have also been glazed. The date is probably Hadrianic
