S.S. ANDREAS, glass negative

Built 1919 by Harland & Wolff Ltd., Belfast, as NEW MEXICO for Elder Dempster Lines, Liverpool. She was sold in 1933 to the Ionian Steamship Co. (managed by Yannoulato G. Frères), Piraeus and renamed ANDREAS. The vessel was torpedoed and sunk by Italian submarine LEONARDO DA VINCI off the northwest coast of Brazil on the 4th November 1942 with a loss of 10 lives.
