Pot-lid
Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and slightly rounded top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'Alas! Poor Bruin', showing young boys taunting a bear against a townscape with building bearing the signs 'SCHOOL FOR BOYS' and 'THE BEAR INN', around the bottom of the scene is the inscription "ALAS! POOR BRUIN", the scene enclosed by a circular line and dot border. The glaze badly crazed, the flange cracked.
