Seal impression: Paltinate of Durham
Within a carved niche, the bishop seated in pontificals with jewelled mitre, two fingers of his gloved right hand raised in blessing. In side niches with tall canopies, dext. St. Michael, holding a shield bearing a plain cross, and with a spear putting down the dragon; sin. St.George, in similar fashion. To either side hangs a shield: a chevron between three crosses formy, FORDHAM. In base, to each side of the carved footboard, a lion sejant guardant coward addorsed.
