Teapot, cover and stand
Teapot and stand of soft-paste porcelain, the teapot of rounded oblong shape with high shouldered sides, sloping shelf type lip rim, containing the domed cover with pyramid finial; flat topped handle, rising above main body with thumb spur; the stand, standing on a tapering foot rim, curved sides with everted rim; the main body of the teapot decorated either side with a cartouche containing an urn on a tall, scrolling pedestal in underglaze blue, spouting flames in red and gilt, flanked by two phoenix type birds in olive green, perched in pink and red willows all further ornamented in gold, caillouté gilding with blue and green ground to either end, issuing from wreathed ionic columns; the spout with imari style flowers on an iron red ground and gilt foliate design on white ground to upper portion; the handlewith gilded running fleur de lys pattern; the cover contained within rim of imari style flowers on a red ground, the cover with a repetition of the decoration of the main body, contained within five panels, ending in a gilded finial; the stand, decorated with a central cartouche containing the urn and phoenix design, enclosed within a gilt band and surrounded by a border of six panels, three containing the caillouté gilding supported by columns and three containing imari style flowers in iron red, with gilt band to outer rim.
