Medieval ceramic floor tile
Lewis Group 16 no.144
Slip-on impression. Formally part of tile 63.469/11 forming a pair with 143 (63.469/14.1); knight on horseback with lance and shield, the lances continuing on adjoining tile, galloping left; border with roundels. This tile had been included in early conservation work to complete the design, however, recent conservation (2003) established the fragment was originally from a separate tile, so it was removed. Edges have clearly been cut to make it fit the larger surviving 63.469/11
BM Design 1303 (Carmelite Friary, Bristol).
