Brown suede trousers by Maxfield Parrish, London. Worn by television presenter Sian Thomas during the inagural live evening of broadcasting on S4C, 1 November 1982. Along with Robin Jones ann Rowena Jones-Thomas, she was one of the first presnters to appear on the channel.
Long trousers made from brown suede. Each trouser leg constructed from 4 parts: two front and two at the back with a horizontal seam at the knee. The front is pleated into the 3.8cm wide waistband (4 pleats on either side). Waistband has an adhesive-coated interlining of white muslin fabric. There are pockets on either side of the hip. Back has 2 stitched tucks on either side of the CB seam. Brown plastic zip fastening with metal slider. Waistband overlaps to the right and is fastened with 2 metal popper buttons which have a black coating. The trousers have a copper-coloured synthetic lining (100% Acetate) which extends down to c. 25cm above the lower edge of the leg, i.e. half-way down the calf (where it hangs loosely/isn't stitched to the suede outer material). Pockets lined with pale brown tabby woven cotton fabric. Manufacturer's label at inner rear waist and 3 further labels stitched into inner left leg seam (outer). White synthetic hanging loops attached to PR and CB of inner waistband (no evidence of former attachment at PL side).
