Cambrian Colliery, photograph
Robert M., Jones (Newport College of Art)
Photograph captioned 'Cambrian Colliery, Clydach Vale, Rhondda. Buildings on the surfaces of the collieries of South Wales throbbed with life when they housed the haulage engines, the winders and the compressors which were powered by steam. The steam engine is slowly vanishing and so are the collieries and their buildings, but for other reaseons. A tall engine house which for many years proudly wore a plaque saying 1875 A.D. is gradually being hacked into rubble.' Mounted on card. Made for the exhibition RECORDING WALES 3 in 1970/1971.
