Soft toy
Knitted doctor toy in scrubs, wearing a face mask. Placed in the window of a house in Wrexham during Covid-19 pandemic.
"One of the first things I knitted was a doctor in scrubs, wearing a face mask. It's been in my window next to a rainbow that my great niece and nephew made throughout Lockdown." (Sarah Jones, Collecting Covid: Wales 2020 questionnaire).
Photograph of this toy and rainbow drawing (F2020.30.2) on display in the window is object number F2020.13.139.
Doll is knitted wearing blue short-sleeved shirt, trousers and hat, white face mask and black shoes. The shirt has a seam at the centre back and the trousers have seams on the inside leg. The shirt collar dips down slightly at the centre front. The eyes are embroidered in black (the doll does not have a nose or a mouth as both are hidden by the mask). Face, ears and arms are knitted using pale pink yarn. The torso underneath the shirt is knitted in white. Even though the shirt is knitted seprately, it is not possible to remove it as it is stitched in place at centre back and underneath the arms. The arms are integral to the shirt (i.e. not in themselves attached to the torso). The hat is also knitted separately but is secured to the head at the centre back. The mask is knitted separately but is tied tightly around the back of the head. The doll is stuffed with polyester wadding.
