Family background and early life. He talks about his sexuality, his attendance in college in Leicester and his life in Leicester during 1984-85. His view of the ‘anti-gay’ media during that period and becoming involved in the miners’ strike as a politically active Young Socialist. Became supportive of the ‘Dirty Thirty’ (striking Leicester miners) and his links with Mark Ashton and the Lesbian and Gay Men Support the Miners organisation.
