Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Plate, earthenware, circular shape with tapering foot-rim slanting inwards, curving sides and spreading rim, a slightly raised edge to the well, eight notches and lobes to the rim; transfer-printed in blue with to the centre of the well the 'Castled Gatehouse' pattern, dominating the scene a castle gateway with twin towers under which two figures pass, in the foreground are further figures and cattle, to one side of the gateway a bridge crosses over a moat, trees and bushes are to both sides of the scene, wide elaborare border to the rim of ornate scrolls, flower heads, fleur-de-lys and garlanded foliage all on a blue ground.
