Digital photograph of a phtoograph showing Harry Bramwell Fowler checking the flame of his miner's lamp.

Harry Bramwell Fowler (born 15.5.1928 - died 19.10.2005) worked as a colliers' boy in Bedwas Colliery before joining the Merchant Navy. He left the sea in 1953 to work at Nantgarw Colliery.

Ended his mining career as shift charge electrical engineer in 1986. Was a member of COSA (Colliery Officials and Staff Area) section of the NUM, and as a member of the Colliery Mines Rescue Brigade, took part in the rescue attempts at the Aberfan disaster of 1966.

Harry Fowler was accommodated at Duffryn Ffrwd Cottages, Nantgarw (NCB houses) when he started work at the colliery in 1953, but in the mid 1960s moved to Tafwys Walk, Caerphilly where he lived until he died.
