Wall hanging
Embroidered wall hanging, part of a set from a room in Bryncunallt, near Chirk. They were probably made by Prudence Trevor, about 1710-20. Owned by the Trevor family from the time of their making until 1983.
Embroidery on canvas base. Brown background and larger motifs worked in wool and finer details in silk. Consists of four pieces of canvas joined together. Pastoral classical scenes along lower edge with central and upper areas decorated in oriental manner with bold colourful flowers, exotic birds and foliage.
