Cup, cabinet and saucer
Cabinet cup and saucer, soft-paste porcelain, near white translucency, lustrous glaze with areas of crackling especially on the underside of the saucer, glaze also shrinking back around a flaw on the the bottom of the cup. The cup cylindrical with a sharply everted lip, standing on three paw feet, high scroll handle containing a lotus fan and patera, mask terminal, and top bead. Saucer on shallow foot, flared rim and flat recessed centre. The lower part of the cup decorated with three sprays of three pink roses in foliage between gold bands, the upper part reserved with panels of five roses on a seeded gilt ground, within gilt cartouches comprising leaf and foliate scrolls and bell flowers. The rose panels and cartouches repeated inside the rim, the pink rather subdued, perhaps overfired, the feet and handle gilt. The saucer decorated with a gilt band to the rim and foot, the former with six panels of five roses in gilt cartouches as on the cup, the centre painted with a large spray of the pink roses in foliage.
