Rhymney Valley Miners Support Group, badge
Circular gold metal badge, with inscription, clasping hands and lamp set in red background. Obtained by donor's father when he was collecting money for miners’ families during the strike.
This badge was struck to commemorate the role of the Womens' support Group in the Rhumney Valley during the 1984-85 miners' strike. The wives and families of miners organised themselves to collect food and money for the striking miners. 'Food parcels' were made up and distributed from 'strike centres' in local halls and sports clubs. They also demonstrated, spoke at meetings and picketed.
