Waistcoat
Machine-knitted woollen waistcoat, with an overall design depicting a rural scene (meadow of flowers and grazing sheep, with trees and mountains in the background). Same design front and back using white, yellow and two shades of green. Closes by means of three wooden buttons. Knitted label on the back of the neck reads 'CARRIE'.
Designed by Carrie White, Newtown, whose work was admired by Jessica and James Seaton. Through her, the Seatons were introduced to an American agent, resulting in the expansion of their business and new trading opportunities in the USA.
