Seal impression: Royal
Obverse. Modelled on the monarch’s last two seals, but with important differences. The King is seated crowned and in royal robes, beneath a triple canopy with rounded arches; his orb bears a cross paty, his left hand a sceptre topped by a reliquary. In lateral niches, shields bear the arms quarterly of FRANCE (Modern) and ENGLAND; beneath each shield a lion couchant guardant turned towards the monarch, in the canopy above a cross ? pommée. In side canopied brackets, a man-at-arms with lance. In field below throne, two suns or roses in splendour, one either side. Fleurs-de-lis separates the words of the legend.
